Dear Mr. McGuigan: This is to confirm your phone conversation of June 20, 1973, with Mik Peskoe of this office as to whether Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110 requires passenger cars manufactured on or after July 1, 1973, to be equipped with tires that conform to Standard No. 109 as of July 1, 1973. the answer to this question is no. We will consider passenger cars to conform to Standard No. 110 if they are equipped with tires that conform to Standard No. 109 as of the date the tires are manufactured.; Sincerely, Lawrence R.
